Following a three-point victory against Collingwood on Saturday night at the MCG, Geelong Cats Executive General Manager – Football Andrew Mackie can provide the following GMHBA Health Update ahead of Sunday’s Mother’s Day clash with the GWS Giants.

As per the update on Sunday, defender Lawson Humphries has entered the AFL’s concussion protocol and will be unavailable for the game against the Giants.

Gryan Miers is continuing to progress through the AFL concussion protocol, with the Club to monitor him throughout the week ahead of the game against GWS.

New updates since conclusion AFL Round 8

Tom Stewart
Knee, Test

After experiencing knee soreness following the Round 7 game against Carlton, we took the cautious approach and decided to give Tom the week to rest and recover. We will continue monitor him and make a call on his availability closer to squad selection on Thursday.

Mitch Knevitt
Foot, Test

Mitch has been managing a plantar fascia injury in his right foot. He is progressing well, but as we do in most cases, we erred on the side of caution and decided to give him another week to manage it. Mitch will be a test this week to face GWS.

Rhys Stanley
Hamstring, 1-2 weeks

Rhys was subbed out of the first quarter of Saturday night’s game, with scans confirming a low-grade hamstring strain.

Jack Henry
Hamstring, 1-2 weeks

Jack is making good progress from the hamstring injury he sustained against Melbourne in Round 4. He is currently building up the running loads required for a return, and we expect to see him integrating back into training this week.

Cameron Guthrie
Achilles, 3 weeks

Jack Martin
Management, 3 weeks

In exciting news for Cam and Jack, they have begun to integrate back into main training. They will continue to build up their training loads in the coming weeks with target to see both Cam and Jack return via the VFL in three weeks’ time.

Jacob Molier
Management, Indefinite

In positive news, Jacob has recovered from a hamstring injury. As a young and developing tall prospect in his first season, Jacob will complete an extensive conditioning block as he continues to prepare his body for the rigours of AFL football. We will have an update on his return to play timeline as he progresses.

Tickets are on sale for Geelong's Round 9 clash with the GWS Giants, as they return home to GMHBA Stadium on Sunday afternoon for the first time in over a month.
