Cats TV caught up with Geelong’s senior coach, Chris Scott, where he answered five of your questions.

This week Scott spoke about Tom Lonergan’s successor and Josh Caddy’s likelihood of joining the Cats best 22 before the end of the year.

Scott says he believes that all players should be equipped for both ends of the track, despite where their natural abilities lie.

Although Scott is aware that roles like Tom Lonergans won’t be easy to replace with so many upcoming forwards, however, he is confident there will be a couple of players fit for the position.

“We do try and train up our young developing key position players as forwards and backs, we value guys that can go both ends of the ground,” Scott said.

“We would like to think Mitch Brown showed some potential in that space and even younger than Mitch, Joel Hamling, is someone that we think has the height, agility and potential to play a role similar to Toms.”

Scott has high expectations of Josh Caddy and says he can see him being listed in Geelong’s best 22 before the end of the season.

According to Scott there are many players worthy of their position and he’s in no hurry to join Caddy to the list. He is still a very young player and Scott wants to give him time to adjust to the Cats playing style.

“My view when we got Josh, is that it was going to take him a little while to get use to the Geelong system,” Scott explained.

“He’s still a third year player which is extremely young, we view him in the same way as we view Cam Guthrie and Billie Smedts, they’re still learning their way but I’m very optimistic that Josh will force his way into our best 22 by the end of the year.”
