CHRIS Scott has discussed his team's high handball numbers this season in the latest episode of CatsTV show Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy.

The Cats had three more handballs than kicks in their loss to Fremantle in round two, which prompted a number of tweets on the subject from fans.

"It's mainly pressure from the opposition," Scott said.

"I don't think any team wants to over-handball when they're under extreme pressure.

"But something that's almost as bad is that really pressured, forced quick kick that goes straight to the opposition and opens you up from the rebound.

"The pressure on us has been really good the last couple of weeks, and we haven't been good enough to clear that congestion with any efficiency.

"So it's certainly not a strategy to overuse the ball and deprive our players forward of the ball clean opportunities.

"But the pressure from the opposition isn't going to reduce too much through the season, so we need to work on balancing that part of our game up."

The round three episode of Tweet The Coach also contains comments from Scott about:

* Whether the losses in rounds one and two have deflated the players
* The push to get games into young players like Darcy Lang and Nakia Cockatoo
* The Simonds Stadium surface
