Geelong veteran Corey Enright will play on in 2016, and could potentially break the club games record.

“The club made me an offer earlier in the year but I wanted to wait until the end of the season before making a decision,” Enright said.

“My body feels good and the coaches are happy with the way I am playing and I am keen to go on. It was disappointing to miss the finals this year but I think we have a good group of players and we will be back contending next season.

“I will take some time to freshen up and I’m looking forward to getting back for pre-season in November.”

Selected at pick 47 in the 1999 national draft, Enright debuted for the Cats in round 1, 2001 and earned an AFL Rising Star nomination that season.

A triple premiership player, Enright was also named in the All-Australian side in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013 and won the club’s best and fairest in both 2009 and 2011.

The 33-year-old played all 21 games for the Cats this year and gathered 484 disposals.

Enright currently sits on 309 games, after reaching his 300 game milestone in round 12 and will need to play at least 17 more games to pass club record holder Ian Nankervis (325 games).

“This is a decision that we all worked through and we are thrilled Corey has accepted our offer to continue playing,” Geelong’s General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said. 

“Corey is a much respected member of our club both internally and by our supporters. He is one of our key leaders and he continued to play good and consistent footy through this season. In the end his form, desire and leadership remains and we expect that to serve us well in 2016.”

Over his 15 seasons, Enright has played 309 games for 203 wins, 103 losses and 3 draws.
