The Geelong Cats have achieved a membership milestone, surpassing 40,000 members before Christmas for the first time in its 156-year history.

The club’s official membership tally currently sits at 40,035 significantly higher than 30,465 at the same time last year.

The 2015 membership total of 46,113 was a club record but the club is looking to achieve bigger and better in 2016 with 50,000 members the target.

Geelong Chief Executive Brian Cook said the milestone is a significant achievement but 50,000 members still remains the ultimate goal.

“We have seen substantial growth of our valued membership base over the last few months and I’m excited for what’s in store in the lead up to the 2016 season.

“Our focus in 2016 is to provide members with exclusive member-only initiatives, unique match day experiences and exceptional service.

“To have 40,035 dedicated and passionate members on board before Christmas is a great sign for our football club. The support of our members is vital to our success and we thank those who have already signed up.

“Even though we have surpassed 40,000 members, there are still a number of Simonds Stadium season reserved seats available to purchase.”

Geelong Cats memberships will be available to purchase online at membership.geelongcats.com.au over the Christmas break.

The Membership Services office re-opens at 9am on Monday 4th January 2016.
