Scott Selwood has been tearing up the track during the pre-Christmas training block, according to his teammate Jackson Thurlow.
Selwood was hampered by an ankle problem during the Cats' 2017 campaign, and he played just five AFL games.
But he looks set to be a major force in 2017.
"There's been a lot of talk about the Dangerfield-Joel Selwood combination, but I think Scott Selwood's going to slip nicely in there and have a massive season," Thurlow said on the Christmas episode of PodCats.
"He's absolutely flying on the training track and in the running at the moment and is really strong.
"I think it's his first full pre-season in a while ... but look for him to really dominate next year."
Darcy Lang is another player who has been very impressive in the pre-season so far.
"He's worked really hard in the off-season," Thurlow said.
"He had a good trip to Europe, but he made sure he got all his running in and he came back in really good condition."
