Brandan Parfitt has been placed on Geelong's long-term injury list.
The first-year midfielder suffered a serious hamstring injury against Collingwood on Sunday.
He will be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks but will not require surgery.
Parfitt will spend a minimum of eight weeks on the long-term injury list.
The decision to place him on the long-term injury list opens the door for a player to be elevated from the Cats' rookie list to their senior list.
But no decision has been made yet on whether a player will be elevated.
