Three-time Cats AFLW best-and-fairest winner Amy McDonald continues to stake her claim as one of the preeminent midfielders in the competition, finishing equal runner-up in the 2023 AFLW Best and Fairest award. A tough onballer with a unique ability to weave and spin out of trouble, McDonald proves near impossible to pin with the ball, able to keep her arms free under heavy attention in the rare instances she cannot avoid being tackled. McDonald is known for both her offence and defence, laying a crunching tackle one moment, and then dodging and weaving through traffic one moment to propel the Cats forward the next.
