Chris Scott on... A Lachie Neale tag
It's an option. he's had a great season. I would expect he'll win the Brownlow, but don't listen to what I say because I pay virtually no attention to that stuff, but he'd have to be in that conversation given the year he's had, and his last two weeks has been terrific.
He needs to get some attention. It's a kind of Russian Roulette if you just try to play two offensively against him but as always with us, it's a collective and it can be a little deceiving to look at the match ups at the first bounce because it could very well be different five or six minutes later.
Chris Scott on… Jake Kolodjashnij’s Availability
He's just trained and ticked all the boxes that the medical staff wanted him to tick.
I spoke, at length, post the Collingwood game about the faith that I have in our current group of performance team, which includes the sports science guys, the medical guys, the conditioning guys, I just have so much faith in them that with Kola it was just a matter of taking a step back and waiting until probably Tuesday when they said, 'he'll be right'.
It's nice when you've got that confidence.
Chris Scott on... Joel's Finals Record*
It's an amazing number. I think it's an amazing performance for anyone to play one AFL game, or play 39 AFL games, but to play 39 finals it's extraordinary. He's led, even when he wasn't captain, the Geelong team so well.
It doesn't guarantee you anything necessarily, but I imagine it must give him an extra layer of confidence that he knows what it feels like, he knows what's required. Each game is different and you've got to start all over again but I think he goes into the game feeling confident about what he can achieve and I think that's understandable.
Chris Scott on… Geelong’s Shared Load
I think it's a good observation.
It's thought provoking for me - you're right I don't think about it too much, but when you talk about the stars not having to carry the load, I automatically thought 'who are they?' One, it's probably a big group, and two it might be a little bit different to the ones who have sprung to mind in the past. Then I'd overlay that with the teams I've admired over the last 20 years, that's what they are, they're deep.
It's kind of like, if you stop him, then he'll get you, if he's down, what about him? And Brisbane are a little like that, I think it's offensive to them to say that, 'Lachie Neale needs to flush it to win', or 'Charlie Cameron has got to kick five for them to win', I think they're better than that. And so are we.
*Selwood will equal Michael Tuck’s all time finals played record.
