A fit and injury-free Jordan Cunico has a new lease on his football life.

Drafted at pick 59 in the 2014 draft, the 20-year-old has fought injury in his first two seasons at Simonds Stadium, tearing his meniscus in 2015 and requiring surgery on both knees last year.

The former Gippsland Power utility did, however, find himself on the verge of senior selection in the final home and away fixture of 2015, and with his body now allowing him to train consistently and the coaching staff putting a new role on the table, that kind of opportunity could loom once more.

“I’ve had a really good pre-season so far. No injuries. No setbacks. It’s been really good,” Cunico told Cats Media.

“I’ve had a little bit of feedback from the coaches – all positive. It’s looking really good.”

“Last year I played more on wing and half back, … this year I’ve started to play half forward.”

“It’s a little bit different for me … but I’m really liking the half forward role.”
