Geelong is set to take on Hawthorn in a match simulation and Brisbane in an official pre-season match ahead of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The Cats will take on the Hawks at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday, 23 February, before heading to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield, QLD, to face the Lions in a practice match on Thursday, 2 March.

Entry will be free for both the match simulation and practice match. The practice match will also be broadcast on Foxtel and Kayo, with broadcast details for the match simulation to be confirmed.

All 18 clubs will compete in one official practice match, with the format and game length replicating Toyota AFL Premiership Season matches.

16 clubs will participate in an additional match-simulation with the format, number of players, game length, and number of breaks to be agreed upon by the competing teams.

Due to the AFL’s additional round of matches in South Australia for ‘Gather Round’, participation in match-simulation was made optional for clubs. The Western Bulldogs and the GWS GIANTS have elected not to participate in the match-simulation.

More information about the details and format of the match simulation will be confirmed for members and fans over the coming weeks. Be One in Hoops and sign-up for a Geelong Cats membership today.
