Coach Chris Scott spoke to media ahead of Geelong's Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn. Here are some of the key takeaways.

Chris Scott on... Easter Monday

It is always a big occasion for us as it is for the Hawks as well. It's a different long Easter weekend for us given its pretty much a normal work day, but we try to embrace it as much as possible with the families and embrace the occasion as well. Any chance you get to be apart of Easter Monday with a big crowd that the MCG is one that you want to try to harness.

I guess the stage of the season is really important for us as well. We just aren't huge believers in over indexing on one game being more important than another, but it is clear to us that we need to play better than we have been playing and there is no better time than Easter Monday.

Chris Scott on... Preparation

I think we are trying to stay true to what we aspire to which is not being too influenced by the past. Whether that's positive or negative and just be in the moment a little bit. Be aware of the things we need to improve on so it's not sweeping under the carpet. It's also a real challenge in elite sport to maintain perspective when things aren't going well. It's easy to talk about when things are going nicely but the real challenge especially from a coaching perspective is when things are a little less smooth and in a perverse way I look forward to that. So, if anything has been a bit different, it has just been that openness to just confront the challenge that is in front of us.

Chris Scott on... Ollie Henry and Tanner Bruhn

Well we didn't drop Ollie. Ollie will be the sub. That's just a quirk in the system that I am sure will be cleared up at some point.

Tanner won't play. We were really clear at the end of last year when we brought in a couple of 20 year olds in Tanner and Ollie in particular that it was a long term play for us. This is a situation where we have a got a few more experienced players back this week. Mitch Duncan will play, [Jake] Kolodjashnij will come back into the team, and Tanner won't be out of our team for too long. Irrespective of our results over the next couple of months we are going to manage our list and we will use a big number of players.

Chris Scott on... the return of Mitch Duncan

He is a really good player clearly, but he is a really smart player too. A great communicator, a great on-field leader. He really understands intimately the things that are important to the way we play. So, it can't be underestimated how bigger a loss he has been.

We've had a lack of continuity with those guys that play behind the ball, so slowly getting them back into the team... [Tom] Stewart coming back last week and playing so well was a real bonus as it looked to us as though he would miss more than the one week, he was out at the 15-minute mark of round one so it was effectively two, but gradually introducing those guys back into the team can only help.
