Chris Scott on… The Flag Unfurling

They won't watch it; they'll be in the rooms when that's happening and that is more a product of acknowledging our supporters mainly that are coming to the ground. We hope that it is a big occasion for them and something that they can get excited about.

With respect to our players, we are aiming to really acknowledge that any success that we have today or that we had last year is the product of a lot of hard work over a really long period of time. So the unfurling of the flag, yes it is acknowledgment of the achievement in '22, but really for us as a club it's about acknowledging the people from way back, premiership teams of the 50's, the administrators through the really hard times at the turn of the century where our club was going through some struggles and without those people, we wouldn't be here today, so it's bigger than the short term, it's about acknowledging some of those great people.

Chris Scott on… The Grand Final ‘Rematch’

I hope there's something in it for the fans. We’re only six rounds into the season and I think there's a reasonable argument to be made that it's a big game because they're two pretty good teams. I think both of us have our challenges at the moment but it's something that the fans should embrace. There's a number of reasons to be excited about this week, coming back to Geelong for the first time, playing in front of our local members for the first time, and playing against a really good opposition. The fact that it happens to be a Grand Final rematch adds a little extra spice for them but for us, we move pretty quickly to what they are as a team right at the moment.

Chris Scott on… The Role of Mark Blicavs

We think his best position is through the midfield. With (Rhys) Stanley going out, (Jonathon) Ceglar has been an option we would have like to have had available a little bit more over the last 18 months or so. Right at the moment there seems to be a few teams that are a bit lean in terms of their ruckman and it just emphasises the art of list management.

With ruckman, you invariably have two problems. One, you've got too many on your list because you've got one or two going really well and the others can't get a game or you don't have enough because they're all injured. It's a really difficult balance to get right and it's one of the reasons we think that having some flexible players that can play multiple positions including the ruck is important.

Chris Scott on … Jonathon Ceglar

I think there is (room for Ceglar, Stanely and Blicavs in the one team), we talked about it a bit during the pre-season and the tweak to the sub rule gives us a little bit more flexibility to do that as well. We've just been in that unfortunate position where we haven't really had them up and going at the same time but that's something we see as a possibility down the track. But Ceglar isn't a player we're going to play every single week anyway, so for us it's more of a function of managing our list and using our resources across the year rather than thinking we've got to get to our preferred structure straight away.
