Chris Scott on… The Stakes

That's the equation. That bit's not complicated.

The more complicated part is how the teams approach it. Both teams are largely in a similar position, but it's always important towards this part of the year, I think in our mind there's no point in running away from the importance of the game. That part's really clear, and we just want to be intent on playing our game as well as we possibly can without the pressure of the situation getting to us.

But that pressure is real, and I don't think either team will be running away from it, you've got no choice but to acknowledge it, embrace it, and find a way to let your best footy flow from there.

There's no point in us looking back on how we've been going or why we're in this position, we're just looking forward and thinking about what's possible for us.

Chris Scott on… The Hawkins, Cameron, and Neale Tandem

It's really pleasing to have him (Hawkins) back.

Even more than that it's the combination of Jeremy and Tom with young Shannon Neale as well. We had plans for those three to play together through the pre-season and this is the first chance we've had the opportunity to do it all year.

That's exciting for us and we're really optimistic that those three can cause some headaches.

Chris Scott on… Cam Guthrie’s Return

He'll play in the VFL.

We thought long and hard about bringing him straight back. My gut feel is that he could come in and play against the Saints and perform really well. We just couldn't be sure that it was going to be a better scenario for him and us than getting some game time in the VFL and all going well coming back next week with our season still alive.

Chris Scott on… The Saints at Marvel

I think it's just naive for any coach in the modern game to disregard the venue, disregard the weapons at your disposal in favour of playing the game style you want to play.

The good coaches always adapt to the situation and what they have, and I think they've had patches this year, early in the season, where they look really hard to stop, particularly with ball in hand and they seem to be back to that in recent times after a little bit of a lull midseason.

Virtually every team has had those periods. The competition is so close it's hard to maintain it. I get the feeling that they think they're a work in progress, but they look a bit better than that to me.
