Lowther on Renee Garing’s Legacy
She is going to have a long lasting legacy here, I wouldn't be surprised if there are awards named in her honour pretty soon.
She has been an ultimate professional from the first day she arrived up until now, her journey has been well documented from an elite netballer into an elite footballer.
Through time, effort, and determination she has turned herself into an exceptional leader, and a great contributor to our games.
Selfishly we would love to have her around for another 12 months, but what she is leaving behind for our young core is an exceptional standard, and how to drive to be the best that you can.
She goes head to head with Georgie Prespakis during most sessions at training, now you can see the way Georgie is growing from the challenge that Renee gives her.
We are going to miss her when she leaves, but her legacy will be forever lasting.
Lowther on a Successful 2023 Season
Looking at our scores this year in comparison to last year, we are continually breaking our own records which is important.
The other side is that we are getting more games into our players, like Claudia Gunjaca who will be our fourth or fifth milestone for the season.
As much as the end focus is trying to win the premiership, you celebrate the little victories along the way as well and all those things count.
We will count this year as another successful year for a number of different reasons, but ultimately we want to be playing next week and then take it further from there as well.
Lowther on the Hawthorn Challenge Ahead
It will be another great challenge against the number one tackling team in Hawthorn this week.
We come up against the Hawks, who have won two of their last three games and one against a good team in Sydney.
Again we need to prepare the best we can against a team where there has been some significant growth.
They are a hotly contested team, they are young and full of exciting players and it will present another opportunity for our girls to show their growth as a team.
The challenge is there again, there is a little bit more on the line this week in regard to do we want to play in the postseason?
The answer is yes.
Lowther on his Coaching Development
As a new coach coming in a couple of seasons ago, I just wanted to instill my philosophy on the team and I think I can see that with the way we play.
We are getting better with our consistency, the time together has helped the group grow a new level of maturity as a unit.
We can see these new aspects growing from week to week, we want to play games where we are strong inside and outside while executing a high level of fundamentals.
We accept that there is going to be combative moments throughout the game, and it will be another great challenge against the number one tackling team in Hawthorn this week.
