Max Holmes and Zach Guthrie have topped the coaches' association votes after Melbourne and Geelong's Round 8 clash at the MCG.
In what was a hard fought contest between the teams, the coaches viewed Holmes as the best player on the field; his 31 disposals, nine marks, six score involvements and almost 700 metres gained earned him eight votes.
Holmes consistently gave the Cats drive out of the backline with six rebound 50s and was a key contributor in game of small margins.
Zach Guthrie took out six votes by clunking nine marks of his own to go with his 24 disposals, seven rebound 50s and a late goal to keep the Cats in touch late in the game.
Guthrie's intercept marking ability has caught many an eye this season, he and Holmes have been among Geelong's top players in the year to date.
The Cats will look to bounce back with the massive Friday night game against fellow top-eight contenders Port Adelaide at home this Friday, with Round 9 kicking off at 7:10pm.
