The VFL Cats have returned to their winning ways, defeating Sandringham by 15 points in wet conditions on Sunday afternoon.

Geelong hit the front early in the opening term and never looked back, leading at every change with the backline restricting the Zebras to just three goals in the first half.

Shaun Mannagh put together a phenomenal performance in slippery conditions, booting a game high six goals while also picking up 21 disposals, six clearances and laying ten tackles.

Mitch Hardie (32 disposals & 7 clearances) continued his strong form with another great display, while Ted Clohesy (21 disposals & 9 tackles) and Brandon Parfitt (21 disposals & 6 tackles) were both prime movers in a hotly contested game.

The Cats have now won 10 of their last 11 games, with the victory over Sandringham moving them back into third spot on the VFL ladder.

Shaun Mannagh tore the Zebras apart with a scintillating first half collecting 16 disposals, six clearances and booting four goals as the Cats jumped out to a 27 point lead at the main break.

Mitch Hardie controlled the midfield in the opening half collecting 19 disposals and four clearances, while Geelong's backline stood tall conceding just three goals from 30 inside-50 entries.

Mannagh continued to put the Zebras to the sword after half time, booting another two goals in the third quarter as the Cats extended their lead to 37 points at the final break.

Geelong had to withstand a late surge as Sandringham closed the margin with a five goal last quarter, but James Willis and Patrick Hughes hit the scoreboard at important moments as the Cats held on to a 15 point win.

Ted Clohesy added to his great day with a number of outstanding defensive moments, including a brilliant smother on the wing to stop a Sandringham fast break.
