Jeremy Cameron joined Meg McDonald and Cameron Ling on this week’s episode of To the Final Bell, ahead of his 250th AFL game this Saturday.

See the top moments below.

Tom Hawkins’ Retirement Announcement

(Timestamp: 0:46 – 6:42)

Cameron Ling: “In my eyes the greatest forward in Geelong Cats history has announced to the playing group, and to the wider world that at seasons end he will retire from football.

It is a day of celebration, a day of sadness I must admit because there are only two players left that I actually played with.

Tom Hawkins, where do we start?”

Meg McDonald: “What a champion.

I feel like there will be legend upon legend of this footy club speaking about how wonderful he is, and how he will he join their ranks in the future for all of his achievements.

When I think of Tom and I have known him for five years or so now, I just think he is one of the warmest people around the football club.

Such a beautiful family who are so generous with their time, you see this big presence of a man who has helped shape the club that I experience.

That is my impression of him, of course that is proceeded by such an incredible playing career.”

Reviewing the Thrilling Win over Adelaide

(Timestamp: 7:00 – 13:50)

Cameron Ling: "I loved Shaun Mannagh's game, he is so busy and his hunt around the ball is great.”

Meg McDonald: “He is looking really comfortable at the level.

He is still under 10 games into his AFL career but his time at VFL level has really showing through.

His game sense is strong and his confidence is bold.

Cameron Ling: “That was a goal of the highest order, to be able to compose and sell the candy but then to be able to still slot the goal is brilliant.

Jeremy Cameron Joins the Podcast

(Timestamp: 14:25 – 26:38)

Jeremy Cameron: “I didn't play much junior footy at all, I played a little bit for my school but that was probably it.

A lot of people ask me where my ball control came from, how I learned to kick snaps and all these different shots.

I put in hours and hours by myself or with friends over at the oval, so I didn't play junior footy but all I did was have a footy in my hands.

I always used the power lines on our front road, our street had three power lines there and I would try to kick it up through the power lines, but get it back down through the same power lines.

I was addicted to kicking the footy around the yard, Mum would say it was annoying at times in the house.

Even if I couldn't kick a footy, I was kicking a pair of socks through the doorway.

You don't realise it until you look back and think that actually would have helped me, because I had a love for the game even though I didn't play it.

We were lucky in Dartmoor that we lived about 200 metres away from the footy ground, I still remember kicking my first goal there when I started playing.”

Previewing the Fremantle Game

(Timestamp: 32:08 – 38:45)

Cameron Ling: “Huge game, you mentioned earlier in the podcast that there is probably still 12 teams that can play finals.

Every position is still up for grabs within finals, we have seen the top team on the ladder lose by 112 points.

We have seen Brisbane win eight games in a row, the Dogs are flying, the Blues lose on a kick after the siren against the Magpies.

This is a huge one against the Dockers.

They looked like a top four team against the Bombers for much of the game, they lose it by a point and they will be hungry this week.”
