Chris Scott believes that finding a balance between offense and defence through the middle will be crucial to gaining ascendancy around stoppages on Saturday.

Fremantle boast a very strong midfield led by the likes of Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw, with the team ranked second in the competition for clearances per game.

Geelong are coming off one of their strongest midfield performances of the season, when they amassed 20 more clearances than Adelaide last week.

Chris Scott believes the key for the Cats will be finding a way to restrict the Dockers impact through the middle, without limiting their own potency around stoppages.

“A bit of thought will go into it, we really respect what they can do through the midfield,” Scott said.

“They have a really clear method and they have executed it really well, if they get it all their own way in that respect then they become hard to beat.

Their personnel is elite, they have some good young midfielders in there who are pretty dynamic.

“Fyfe is still playing good footy which compliments them well, then they have two elite ruckmen.

“That is a part of the game we have to put a little bit of thought into, but as always we don't want to give up too much to stop their strengths and forget about us.”

The Cats will also celebrate Jeremy Cameron’s 250th AFL game this weekend, when they head to Perth for their clash with the Dockers.

Cameron has been an incredible addition to the Geelong line up, helping the Cats win a premiership in 2022 while also winning a Carji Greeves Medal and an All-Australian selection in his four seasons at the Club.

Chris Scott recognised Cameron’s impact at Geelong and what he adds to the Cats forward line.

“He has been crucial for us,” Scott said.

“Hopefully he will get to the point where he has played at least half of his footy at Geelong, but he has just been so important for us.

“He has been really exciting for all our supporters and our footy club, but for his teammates as well.

“There have been a few times over the last decade or so when players have come in, but few have had the impact on our excitement levels the way Jeremy has.”

Cameron will play his 250th AFL game when the Cats head to Optus Stadium on Saturday, taking on Fremantle with the opening bounce at 4.35pm.
