Jack Bowes says the Cats are optimistic despite the weekend’s result, with the midfielder putting together another solid four quarter display against St Kilda.
Spending time across half back and through the midfield, Bowes collected a game high 31 disposals on Saturday night, along with five score involvements and 782 metres gained in a prolific display.
Saturday’s clash marked the 11th time that Bowes has collected 20 or more possessions in a game this season, while also averaging five tackles and four clearances per game in 2024.
The performance from the 26-year-old was a shining light for the Cats, but Bowes said the team will look to improve in the final round against West Coast.
“I started the game through half back, rotated back through the midfield at the end there,” Bowes told Cats Media.
“Obviously we just couldn't get the result tonight, which was unfortunate, we like to play in wins so there is definitely a lot to improve on as a team.
“Hopefully we can bounce back against West Coast next week.”
The Cats remain in the top four heading into the final round despite Saturday’s result, with the ability to secure a double chance in the Finals if they can beat the Eagles this week.
Geelong have already secured their place in September, marking the 16th finals appearance in the last 18 seasons.
Bowes said the opportunity in front of the Cats will drive them to bounce back on Saturday against West Coast.
“Scotty just spoke to us then, obviously we are very disappointed but we can't drop our heads and go insular,” Bowes said.
“We have got to front up on Monday and look at what we can improve on, there is still a massive opportunity in front of us to finish in the top four if we win next week.
“We will lick our wounds a little and get after it next week, we are looking forward to being back at GMHBA Stadium.”
