Lowther on Kate Kenny Making her AFLW Debut

It is exciting news for Kate and the team.

She has been herself, bringing her Gaelic style of play and coming into AFL it suits really well. As a scorer she has a real knack for goals, she can kick both left and right foot really nicely.

She is super smart as well; she has picked up on our forward half system really quickly, the speed she provides and the way she has trained is impressive.

She is very diligent the way she has worked on her craft. She is always trying to find ways that she can be better and do things differently.

Lowther on facing Melbourne in Week 1

It is pretty amazing, for five years we didn't play them at all and then we have three games out of the last 10 against them.

It is a bit of a marquee matchup now for us, they smacked us early last year after half time and we learned a lot from that first performance.

Then obviously in the final we played a better game which was great, probably more our brand.

Round one has been nine months in the making, so it will be interesting to see how both teams line up.

They are a quality team and have been for a long time, so it is great for us to play against them.

Lowther on managing expectations

We finished fifth last year, so we are still hunting teams above us and that is our mentality.

We are not quite there yet and we want to be challenging the best teams, so having a fairly successful season last year and playing in a Prelim doesn't change anything.

There is no real expectation on taking one more step forward to prove to everyone we are getting better.

Consistency and competitiveness are things that drive our program, so the players coming in and playing new roles that is the message.

Can you be consistent and competitive? That process for us is really important.

Lowther on the excitement of playing at GMHBA Stadium

We are lucky to have this open slate for us to have as many people come to GMHBA Stadium as possible.

It is no surprise, when you play in front of a big crowd that the team gets a real buzz and thrill from it. Geelong's crowd is second to none, it is unparalleled.

Our final last year we had upwards of 7,000 to the game, but that feels like 20,000.

If you are a Geelong supporter, get along and support your club because it makes a big difference. It is a bit of a fortress down here, we are lucky to have a tier one stadium which is brilliant.
