Lowther on the Positives from Week 2

I thought the girls battled really hard to negate their opportunities, the ball was living in our front half for majority of the game which is brilliant.

To threaten their defence as much as we did was positive.

We just gave up too many goals off minimal entries, we need to tidy up some of those areas but they are a great side for a reason. We will take it, not happy about it but it is positive steps for us.

We had our chances early, didn’t quite take them but I think we were consistent which was positive.

Lowther on Aishling Moloney's Performance

It is nice to have a target like Aishling to kick the ball to, when she is on she is tough to play against.

To have players like Moloney and Jackie Parry to contest and bring the ball to ground, Shelley Scott’s experience to compete as well.

But Aishling can get her hands on the footy, have some space and time to move around a bit and then has a nice long kick to put the ball in dangerous positions.

Lowther on the Midfield Battle

It was always going to be an interesting battle to watch the two midfields go at it, the hit-outs were a bit of a concern for us leading into the game.

I thought our group managed it really well, we were smacked in the hit-outs but only lost the clearances by a couple.

The diligence for the players to work as a unit to support each other was great.

Credit to Kate Darby and Gabbi Featherston who went through and tried their best against their talls.

Lowther on Amy McDonald's Hot Start to 2024

Amy’s ability to shark taps, be on the move and look threatening off the opposition ruck was a real positive for us.

Then the other girls can support her, but she has had two really strong games and four really strong years to be honest.

She is getting better and better with those small nuances of the game, around stoppage clearance and her craft.
