Cameron on guiding the Cats young core

We want everyone to be themselves and we have seen that the whole way through, at this time of year it is nice to have a really good blend of youth in the side but some experience as well.

You can feed off each other in different ways, I think we are doing that really well. I think of Ollie Dempsey just having fun and doing what he does on the wing, smiling at all times and playing his role extremely well.

We don't want him to go away from that we just want him to keep having fun and doing his thing. We have a lot of other guys all around the ground doing great, Shaun Mannagh has come in and played a huge role.

As older boys we try to assist the younger guys as much as we can throughout the week, but when it comes to game day we try to do what we have done all year which is having fun and enjoying the crowd.

Instead of walking out on the MCG and being daunted, take it all in and have a look around, this is where you want to be at this time of year.

Cameron on the development of Geelong’s forward line

It is a really nice balance forward of the ball, we have a lot of guys that can play different roles.

Scratch (Shannon Neale) has been enormous for us, he is such a big unit and when he can launch at the ball he is hard to stop so he plays an important role. Ollie Henry is a different sort of player, he can really leap and take the ball at the highest point but he is so dangerous at ground level as well.

We have a really good mix, there are guys that aren't talked about externally but internally they play a huge role for us.

It is nice to be able to mix things up if the game isn't working our way, we have the licence to change it up and have a different look. That is key to winning big moments in big games.

Cameron on handling momentum shifts

Down here we speak about it a bit, for us it is about sharing your experiences with the younger boys.

We have a different team to what we had last year and the year before, there is a lot of new faces which is exciting for us.

Sharing those experiences, what to do in the big moments and how to combat that can be challenging, especially against Brisbane who can roll with the momentum very easily. We have things in place that we can go to, but doing that in the moment is the challenging part.

As much as we rely on the coaches, it is up to the players on the field to get it done and try to stop the momentum swings. They will always happen in football, so how do you adjust around that.

Cameron on Shannon Neale’s Progression

He has been huge for us, he is one of those kids that just wants to keep learning every single day.

He picks our brains and this is where Tom Hawkins has been wonderful, and has been for a long time, sharing his knowledge of the game and what he has done over years and years of playing at the highest level.

Scratch has taken all that in and he has got a big work ethic on and off the field, but we want to keep it simple at the same time and not give him too much information.

I have loved the way he has gone about it, he is a big target for us and if he isn't marking the ball he is bringing it to ground and that is all we want.
