Mitch Hardie has finished fourth in the J.J Liston Trophy, the VFL's Best and Fairest Award recognising the top players from the 2024 season.

Hardie polled 19 votes for the season to land in fourth place, finishing behind Winner Dom Brew from Werribee (31 votes), Runner-up Rory Atkins (22 votes) and third placed Boyd Woodcock (20 votes).

The classy midfielder finished with the most votes of any Geelong player, capping off a dominant year where he averaged 29 disposals and six clearances per game.

The fourth place finish follows the earlier announcement that Hardie had also made the 2024 Smithy's VFL Team of the Year, rewarded for his brilliant season which helped the Cats return to Finals action.

A number of other Cats polled strongly in the J.J Liston Trophy, including Ted Clohesy (10 votes) and Brandan Parfitt (9 votes) who were both recognised for their strong campaigns.

Overall there were 15 Geelong players that featured in the votes across the 2024 season.

The J.J Liston Trophy follows the same voting system as the Brownlow Medal, with three votes awarded to the best player on the ground in each followed by two votes (second best player) and one vote (third best player).
