Lowther on the Takeaways from Thursday Night
I said the girls, don’t be too despondent about the loss even though it is a hard one to swallow.
To score like we scored would normally win a lot of games, there was no issue with celebrating the fact that we got that part right across four quarters.
But when you are giving up four goals in that third quarter in quick response to us scoring, was the disappointing part.
Full credit to the Hawks, they were strong around the contest and had a real point to prove around that first phase. They got us on the outside at times as well, which kickstarted their movement forward and left us looking all at sea at times in defence.
Lowther on Aishling Moloney
Another exceptional game, last week she kicked four and tonight was another three.
She set a few others up as well with the way she attacks the footy and gets the ball forward, her unique around the corner kicking style gets a lots of territory off the back of it.
She is the ultimate competitor, she hates to lose so whether it be a ground ball or whatever it is she just wants to get the footy in her hands.
She played really well, we had some great contributors throughout the game.
Lowther on the Learnings from Hawthorn’s Style
We knew watching them throughout the first four rounds that they were going to be hard to stop around stoppages, they are really nippy and fast with their feet and the way they use the ball from inside to out.
It is good to watch, I think that is where the competition is growing as a whole is that is the kind of style you will see more often.
Then the fundamental part to hit that target, find the mark and then control it at times.
I thought they spread the ground really well, our measures was to press up and try to take out those opportunities but we were a bit slow to do that at times.
Lowther on the 2024 Fixture
That is the nature of the competition, the fixture is probably a little bit lopsided at times.
We got the strongest teams because of our performance last year, we all know that teams are going to improve and that is what we have to do as well.
We are not going into this year thinking we should beat certain teams because of what they were like last year, it is a whole new year and teams are improving.
