Mackie on Bailey Smith
Clearly it is exciting that Bailey would like to get to us, it was nice to find that out last week.
We have already had a couple of conversations with Sam Power at the Bulldogs, they were positive chats so we will see where that gets to over the next 10 days or so.
It is day one of the trade period and there is plenty to play out, but the intention is really good.
We will keep the initial offers between Sam and I, but our intention is to make a trade and to make sure the Bulldogs are compensated.
Mackie on what Smith can bring to Geelong
Bailey has been spending a little bit of time down in Geelong over the past couple of years, he likes the idea of spending more time down there.
On-field clearly he has some assets, but without going into too much detail he gives us flexibility from an on-field point of view.
There is a lot of water to go under the bridge before he is a Cats player.
Mackie on Clayton Oliver
I think there has been a lot of speculation about Clayton.
We are really clear and respectful of Melbourne's position on that, he has a six year contract with them still.
We are respectful of what they (Melbourne) said, so from our point of view we haven't spent too much time on it past that.
The hypothetical nature of this week is something we don't like to get too far in to, other than this being a window where you look at all sorts of things to better your list.
It is not just Clayton, there are lots of little bits and you spend a lot of time on things that don't eventuate.
Mackie on Jack Martin
We are really excited about what the possibility could be if we get that right (Martin’s previous injuries).
It is going to be a work in progress with lots of people, we are open minded about how that could look and how it could work from a loading and management point of view.
Jack is a quality person and we are really looking forward to putting him on our list come the 1st of November, then seeing what can happen.
Hopefully the change as much as anything might work, there is no guarantees but we are open minded and excited about the prospect of it.
