The phrase 'training the house down' is often overused during the pre-season, but in this case it could not be more accurate as Oisin Mullin takes big strides heading into 2025.
Mullin is coming off a successful 2024 campaign where he played 12 games at the top level, including both of the Cats finals matches against Port Adelaide (Qualifying Final) and Brisbane (Preliminary Final).
With his mix of speed and agility, the Irishman gave Geelong fans plenty to be excited about, but he is now showing great signs of development in his craft and football IQ to go with the natural abilities.
Joining Cats Media for the first time in 2025, Mullin touched on the experience he has gained and how that is helping him to grow ahead of his third year with Geelong.
"I am two seasons down now, each one I have been using as a building block," Mullin said.
"The experience of getting to play in the Prelim against Brisbane in front of over 90,000 people was good, trying to take the experience of that on board and keep building.
"There are a lot of things to work on, a lot of areas of growth around learning the game still. Every session is an opportunity, so just trying to build and get settled in.
"The boys are pretty keen and looking forward to it, only 20 odd days away from our first practice game which will come around very quick."
Perhaps the best moment from Mullin's 2024 season came in the Qualifying Final against Port Adelaide, when he was brought in as a late change and played an influential role in stifling the Power's dangerous forwards.
The development of Mullin alongside some of the Cats other emerging players will be exciting to watch in 2025, as each player looks to put their best foot forward early in the season.
Other exciting things on the schedule for Geelong this year include 10 games at GMHBA Stadium, a number of blockbuster clashes and big milestones for key figures in the club.
Mullin said he has been staying in the moment and looking to improve his game during the pre-season, but is also looking forward to what lies ahead this year.
"I haven't thought that far ahead into the season that is coming, I have been so focused on trying to develop my craft and understanding the game plan more," Mullin said.
"I haven't thought too far ahead into the future, but there are some exciting milestones ahead.
"Obviously we have Dangerfield and Scott's 350th games, but having 10 games at GMHBA Stadium too is great.
"Hopefully we can fill up the stadium and see the members get out, it will be great to have their support this year."
