It seems like just yesterday that Gryan Miers joined the Geelong Football Club, but the crafty forward is set to enter his eighth season with the Cats in 2025.
Renowned for his skills by foot and his running capacity, Miers quickly became an integral part of Geelong's team and continues to grow each year.
The 25 year old was influential in front of the big sticks last year, finishing with 21 goals which was his largest goal tally in the last five seasons.
With numerous assets at his disposals, Miers said his running prowess was a key focus throughout the pre-season.
"I have always been a pretty consistent and good runner, it is probably a reason why I got drafted I guess," Miers told SEN.
"There is good runners and then there is good football runners, I want to fall into both categories a little bit.
"I am not running for the sake of it, I am not running to bad spots, I am running to dangerous spots both offensively and defensively.
"That means I am able to shut them down when I am on defence, then also get the ball when I am on offense and be valuable for my team. That also helps other guys to get some rest when I can run."
The Cats will look to compete at the pointy end of the competition once again in 2025, after falling narrowly short of a Grand Final berth last season.
During the off-season the club added some new personnel, including Bailey Smith and Jack Martin which will provide a new dynamic for the team this year.
Miers said there will be some subtle tweaks to the game plan in 2025, but the Cats are confident in the foundation they created throughout last season.
"As a team we were very confident with the product that we have, but you always have to make changes," Miers said.
"A big change for us is having Bailey Smith and Jack Martin as part of the team, they will change us for sure. It makes the team look so different when there is one or two changes to the personnel, even though it may not look like it externally.
"There is definitely changes there, our game style will look different for us.
"As a whole we don't need to throw anything out and go crazy or nuclear, it is about sticking to what we know and adding some new people around the club."
