Scott on Oli Wiltshire's Debut
It is so satisfying when those young players force their way in, and that is what Oli has done.
He has been playing well enough for a long time to justify his position, it is just that a spot hasn't opened up.
I have said to Oli that we haven't brought him in because we think he can look okay at the level, we brought him in because we are certain that he can have a big impact. I am really confident that he will do some nice things tomorrow.
Oli won't be the sub. I rarely give that information and as everyone knows, we finalise our team an hour before the game. The plan at the moment is for Oli to be in the 22.
Scott on combating Carlton's forward line
Obviously it would be easier for us if McKay wasn't playing. They haven't played together for a little while, Curnow and McKay so I would suggest that it is a good thing for them but maybe there is a bit of an unknown with their cohesion.
We never just say that we will play whoever is there, we are always quite thoughtful about the opposition and the strengths they have.
Those two guys are pretty obvious, you don't need to watch them too much to realise how good they can be.
We will adjust slightly based on the strength of Carlton's forward line.
Scott on Dangerfield's role on Sunday
It is a good point and it will be horses for courses to a large degree for us.
The equation is always going to be relatively simple for us, if we are getting beaten in there then he will be in the middle a little bit more. Right at the moment, we have got a lot of confidence that we have got some guys in good form there.
I am not suggesting that Cripps, Walsh, Cerra or Hewett who has been in great form, they run deep in there, De Koning has been in good form and has been for a long time so clearly that is a strength of theirs.
But what we have been aspiring to do for a long time, is move away from thinking that Tom Stewart or Patrick Dangerfield are the only ones that can get it done.
Scott on Mitch Knevitt's foot
It is not much more serious than it has been.
He has been managing that for a while, I think we brought it up a couple of weeks ago. I hesitate to talk about this in detail because I could get that detail wrong, but it is a plantar fascia issue that he has been able to play with.
We have a very low tolerance for young players playing inhibited over a long period of time. It flared a little bit last week, he is a really tough kid and he would play through it if he had the option, but we chose not to give him that option.
Obviously we are guided by the medical team and they think the best course of action, given the conservative philosophy that we have is to try and use the next few weeks to get it right.
Scott on the work of Geelong's Recruiting team
It is always exciting when young players force their way into the team.
But the ones that have come from a long way back and in reality, they are speculative picks these types.
Stephen Wells has done a fantastic job in backing his eye, which is incredibly difficult to do. I don't have the skill to assess a player at a much lower level and make the judgement that their attributes are going to translate into the top level.
Even 'Wellsy' would say it was a speculative pick, but he saw something and it is so satisfying for those guys in particular when those young players force their way in.
