Geelong Cats AFLW players Renee Garing, Georgia Clarke, Kate Darby, Sophie Van De Heuvel, and Hayley Trevean are appointed as the Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day ambassadors in 2019.
Footy Colours Day is a national fundraising campaign held during the month of September to support children living with cancer.
Local Geelong teacher and AFLW midfielder Renee Garing jumps on board this educational based support system.
“Fight Cancer Foundation’s education support programs help kids living with cancer continue their education during and after treatment to ensure they can re-engage with their school when they return,” said Garing.
“Being away from your school and your friends for a number of months at a young age takes a toll on all students, so to have a Foundation helping children with cancer return to school is something quite significant.
“All funds raised from Footy Colours Day go towards helping kids stay engaged with education, enabling them to stay at the same level as their classmates and friends, whilst also helping them transition back to school life once their treatment is complete.
“Fight Cancer Foundation goes the extra mile with their initiatives, which is why we’re happy to spread the message and support the cause."
Schools, Organisations, groups and clubs across Australia are encouraged to wear their favourite team’s colours this September.
