The time has come around again for the Hawks and the Cats to battle it out for the second time this year on Saturday night at the MCG.

This year’s opening blockbuster on April 1st saw another thrilling contest unfold between the two topsides, where Geelong kept control of the winning streak with their 10th consecutive victory.

Hawthorn’s senior coach Alastair Clarkson admits he always looks forward to the buzz and competitiveness that comes with playing Geelong.

“They're always crackers of games against Geelong," Clarkson said.

"We've got a nice, healthy rivalry there and rivalries are all built around Grand Finals, and big finals in a sense, and that's why these two clubs have been good clubs for a fair period of time now and have produced some really good contests.”

As expected, Geelong and Hawthorn showcased another enthralling contest last time they met, with Geelong just making it over the line by seven points.

Clarkson says it’s about time the Hawks retrieved their losses from the Cats. The Hawks haven't been able to outclass the Cats since the 2008 premiership.

"We're about due to win one though. They've knocked us off a fair bit the last little while so it would be nice to get one this time."
