Geelong’s 2020 AFL fixture has been unveiled with the Cats to play nine GMHBA Stadium games and two home games at the MCG.
Geelong will host Gold Coast, St Kilda, Brisbane, North Melbourne, West Coast, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, GWS Giants and Adelaide Crows at GMHBA Stadium in season 2020.
The Cats’ two MCG home games include Hawthorn on Easter Monday and Essendon in the annual Powercor Country Festival.
“The 2020 fixture includes an array of time slots for our home games which is sure to please our members and supporters,” Geelong’s Acting CEO Simon Kelleher said.
“Nine home games at GMHBA Stadium is an acceptable result for the club, the spread of games include two Friday night matches, five afternoon and twilight matches and one Saturday night game against the Brisbane Lions in round seven.
“Round five could be the highlight of our fixture, potentially with Joel Selwood’s 300th and Gary Ablett’s 350th game milestones will be celebrated at GMHBA Stadium in front of a home crowd.
“Both MCG home games have been fixtured in afternoon, family-friendly timeslots. Easter Monday is a highlight of the season each and every year, and we are already looking forward to round four coming around.
“Next year’s fixture will also see the club host the fifth annual Powercor Country Festival, when we take on Essendon at the MCG on a Saturday afternoon. A great opportunity for families to get to the MCG and experience the festival in Yarra Park prior to the bounce at 4.35pm.”
