The win over Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening was the greatest spectacle.
But there were plenty of positives to take out of the game.
Scott Selwood looked the part in his first AFL appearance in the hoops.
He quelled the influence of Bombers dynamo David Zaharakis while also racking up a few touches of his own.
Selwood will certainly be better for the run, and he could even prove to be a weapon come finals time given how fresh he is.
And although the Cats weren't able to replicate Adelaide's demolition of the Brisbane Lions the night before, they still managed to gain four percentage points, which will prove crucial in the race for top-four spots.
Geelong now sits fifth on the ladder, but with Hawthorn, which has a lowish percentage, soon facing a trip west to play the Eagles, it's not out of the realms of possibility that the Cats could steal the Hawks' spot in the top four in the coming weeks.
That would be sweet!

The Cats' remaining three home and away matches are against Richmond at the MCG, the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba and Melbourne at Simonds Stadium.
Geelong hasn't lost to the Tigers since round nine, 2006. Now is not the time to let that record slip!
Given all the permutations, it's time to revisit a question we posed a few weeks ago.
