Tomorrow the club will hold its first AFLW’s best and fairest awards night at GMHBA Stadium.

The club will celebrate its debut season in the competition and announce the inaugural winner of the individual accolade.

Meghan McDonald is one of the favourites to take out the prize following the announcement of her position in 2019 All Australian team at the W Awards on Tuesday night.

McDonald lead the Cats in disposals averaging 15.8 touches per game. The full back also averaged the most metres gained and was second in the competition for intercept marks behind Collingwood’s Ash Brazill.

18-year-old Olivia Purcell also had an outstanding season. On Tuesday night the inside-mid came third in the competition’s Rising Star award. The youngster had the most contested possessions for the Cats, was second in score involvements and kicked two goals herself.

Another midfielder in contention is tackling machine, Renee Garing. Garing laid more tackles than any other player in the side averaging eight per game. Garing was also consistent when it came to possessions with an average of 13 disposals. Garing’s best game was in Round 5 against Brisbane where she had 19 disposals and nine tackles.

Finally, Rocky Cranston, who had a delayed start to the year, had her best season in the competition to date. Cranston, who for this was her third year in the AFLW following two seasons at Melbourne, took her game to a new level averaging 15.7 disposals per match, up from 10 the previous year. Cranston lead the team in clearances and inside 50s.

Other awards being presented on the night include Community Award as well as the Hoops Award given to the player who best represents the club’s values.
