Ten years ago Gail Absell co-founded Upstate, a yoga and pilates studio in Geelong with the purpose of helping others live their best lives possible.
Since then the Upstate brand has expanded to three locations, employs 44 instructors and conducts over 300 classes a week.
Absell is one of six guests on a panel at this year’s Fare on the Field event held on GMBHA Stadium on February 15 and she is thrilled to be a part of the day.
“There is nothing better than spending a day out with women with a shared purpose to inspire each other. I find so much inspiration from the stories of other women. We have such potential to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders and lift each other up. I am really excited to hear the other amazing presenters and enjoy a fun and social day.”
Absell grew up in a family of Richmond supporters, however growing up in a town near Colac she found herself with a soft spot for the Cats.
“The Geelong Football Club is such a big part of the culture of Geelong, it’s hard not to cheer them on. I am super excited about the women’s league and looking forward to taking my daughter along to some matches.”
Absell leads her own team of 44 instructors and believes that anything can be achieved when everyone works together.
“We (Upstate) are big believers in working as a team. As a collective we can achieve more than any of us could individually. We have a big culture of feedback and are here to raise each other up and support each other.”
Absell looks forward to sharing the story of her Upstate business with guests at the event as well as her tips on living a life of purpose.
