Geelong will blood their first debutant for 2014 with father-son draftee Jed Bews to play against the Dockers on Saturday night.

Bews, the son of former Cats captain Andrew, was taken with pick 86 in the 2011 draft from the Geelong Falcons.

A strong and quick backman, Bews has played VFL for the Cats for the past two seasons and was a member of the 2012 VFL premiership side.

Speaking prior to the Cats flight to Perth, Bews said he was looking to keep things similar to his performances at VFL level.

“I don’t want to change too much from what I’ve been doing in the VFL which is to lock down my direct opponent and try and attack from their but first and foremost beat my man.” Bews said.

And a potential matchup with Dockers forward Hayden Ballantyne hasn’t daunted him.

“He’s a good player, I know he can be a bit of a pest but he’s a good player and that is possible match up.”

The full Cats side will be released at 6.25pm on the Cats website.
