VFL: Friday night lights
The Cats and Pies are set to square off in the first ever VFL night game at Simonds Stadium
The match shapes as a season defining clash with the VFL Cats (10 wins, 2 losses) sitting on top of the ladder and the VFL Pies (8 wins, 4 losses) not far behind in 6th position.
The contest is made even more interesting by the fact that Collingwood are one of only two teams to defeat the Cats this season – by 13 points in Round 6 at Victoria Park.
2012 VFL premiership duo Jordan Schroder and Jed Bews both look set from injury while VFL contingent Jack Hollmer, Matthew Sully, Andrew Banjanin and Daniel Measures have all been added to the squad that defeated North Ballarat by 74 points two weeks ago.
With the AFL team still to be finalised, the seven man AFL interchange bench of Andrew Mackie, Jordan Murdoch, Josh Caddy, Nathan Vardy, George Horlin-Smith, Jesse Stringer and Mark Blicavs have all been selected in the 31 man VFL squad.
The Dale Tapping coached Collingwood side have named a very strong line up that includes the likes of Alan Didak, Quinten Lynch, Martin Clarke, Lachlan Keefe and Jordan Russell.
As announced earlier in the week, all of the gate receipts and car parking fees from the historic match will go directly to the Casey Tutungi Appeal. The Bob Davis Gate will open at 6.00pm.
