Geelong are saddened by the recent passing of Ron Ruffin aged 104.
Born on the 25th May 1916, Ron was a dedicated and lifelong Geelong supporter.
In a 2019 interview with Bob Gartland, Chair of the Geelong Cats Honouring the Past Management Committee, Ron spoke of attending Corio oval as a seven-year-old, with his season ticket and watching his heroes from behind a picket fence.
In his youth, Ron would attend Geelong Cats training sessions to "gather behind the goals and retrieve all the balls", watching his favourite players including Carji Greeves, Les Hardiman and Cliff Rankin.
Ron visited the great Charles Brownlow on his deathbed, saw the town "go mad" after premierships and strolled through the Kardinia Park Zoo.
His quick wit, wealth of knowledge and gentlemanly manner will be missed.
The club offers its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
