Cats' costly kicking
Despite a poor performance in front of goal on Sunday, Chris Scott is adamant it's not from a lack of practice
“The forwards practice goal kicking every session, (in fact) most of our guys practice goal kicking every session,” Scott said on Tweet the Coach this week.
The Cats finished the match with 9 goals and 13 behinds, missing several set shots and failing to convert, going down by 40 points despite equaling Port Adelaide’s inside 50 count.
“It was an area that cost us on the weekend so the focus will be a little sharper this week.
“We know it’s hard to simulate the pressure of a game but we do everything we can to attempt to simulate that pressure,” Scott said.
Tom Hawkins kicked 3.2, while Mitch Duncan and Jordan Murdoch walked away with a handful of behinds between them but not a single goal.
“I’m very confident that any issues we have with our goal kicking is not the result of not doing enough practice,” Scott said.
Scott also discussed how the emotion from a loss is directed in a positive way by the coaching staff and what the younger players can take away from such a defeat.
