So which Cats can push for a trip to the GABBA to take on the Lions? We give you some candidates.

George Horlin-Smith
A late withdrawal from the Cats AFL side on Thursday night due to team structure, Horlin-Smith went back to the VFL and again put in a performance to make the coaches notice. Two goals, 24 touches, nine marks, six tackles and some great on-field leadership puts him in the frame for this week.

Jackson Sheringham
After a shocking run of injuries in 2013, Sheringham has got his body right this preseason and it has showed with a best on ground performance in the VFL side’s practice match against Essendon. Someone who will play a great shut down role but also a superb user of the ball, Sheringham has the coaching staff’s faith that if he is called upon he can deliver. Finished  with a game high 25 touches and 10 tackles.

George Burbury
Could Burbury be a surprise call up just over five weeks since shattering his jaw in two places? Although he hasn’t played a competitive match since the first NAB Challenge game, Burbury has played match simulation at training for the past couple of weeks. If he’s fit does that negate and loss of match hardening?

Jackson Thurlow
A dashing half back and superb user of the footy, Thurlow can bring class of a high level to the Cats game. Thurlow will be looking to add to the games played last year in his debut season. Played some NAB Challenge action for the Cats and was listed as an emergency for round one. 25 touches and a five rebound fifties from Saturday's VFL match.

Jake Kolodjashnij
Whilst many assumed there would be a Kolodjashnij playing in the AFL in 2014, most thought it would be Gold Coast’s Kade. However, brother Jake, a tall backman for the Cats has shown in two dominant VFL performances that he won’t be far off either. Whilst maybe not this week, the new number eight may get his chance soon if he can continue this good form. He had  13 touches and six rebound fifties on Saturday.
