Cats’ senior coach Chris Scott says seventh-year player Josh Cowan is beginning to repay the faith the club has shown in him over the journey.
The 25-year-old’s career has been one plagued by injury but the speedster has impressed his coach since returning to the AFL side in round 17 against Fremantle.
“He’s given us a slightly different look,” Scott said in this week’s episode of #TweetTheCoach.
“He’s a player that we’ve clearly rated. We’ve kept him on our list for a long time while he’s basically been unavailable to play with soft tissues injuries and Achilles issues.”
“He seems to be through that now and has forced his way into our team, even given great availability.”
Spending time through the midfield and back half, Cowan is showing signs of what made him a highly touted prospect at the Cats.
“His transition, his running power, his intensity around the ball has been real highlight.”
“But we’re going to have some competition for spots, so in simple terms he’s got to play at his absolute best to maintain that spot.”
