Cats TV discuss with James Kelly and AFL journalist Adam McNicol what the Cats need to do to combat Port Adelaide this Saturday at Simonds Stadium.

This week the Cats will have to be on high alert to match against Port’s perpetual running power, after their triumphant win over Adelaide last Sunday.

Kelly admits that Port Adelaide are showing positive signs for a developing team and he can see that senior coach, Ken Hinkley, who was a former assistant coach at Geelong, has created a force that's getting stronger by the week.

“We need to look out for an enormous amount of energy in their attack, they are a super fit side and Kenny just gets them playing and backing themselves, and when the team attacks they all attack,” Kelly explained.

“Everyone gets involved and they move the ball really well so their pressure around the footy is really good for a developing side.”

McNicol also feels Port are a tough team to beat under Hinkley’s rein, especially following their unanimous flattening of Adelaide in the dying seconds.

He believes Port has proved that they can collaborate well as a team when the intensity rises.

“You think back to Port Adelaide and it’s only a year or so ago they were getting rolled by 150-points over multiple weeks in a row,” McNicol says.

“Port were dead and buried but Kenny has that magnificent ability to bring everyone on side. Kane Cornes could get a game for a whole year and now Kenny’s got him playing some of the best footy of his life.”
