The AFL's captains believe Geelong will be a force to be reckoned with in 2013.

In the official AFL captains survey, only two of the league's captains didn't think the Cats would be involved in the 2013 finals series.

Each club's captain is unable to vote for their own team in the survey meaning the maximum possible votes is 17. Sydney (17), Collingwood (16), West Coast (16), Hawthorn (16) were the teams ahead of the Cats in the voting.

The captains were also asked which club apart from their own would they likely play off against in the 2013 grand final. One opposition captain said that team would be the Cats whilst seven said Hawthorn and seven said West Coast.

Cats skipper Joel Selwood was also liked by his peers as a Brownlow chance with one other captain picking him as their choice for this year's Brownlow.

And big forward Tom Hawkins was also predicted for a big year. Two AFL captains selected him as the likely 2013 Coleman medallist.

How much attention should be paid to the survey may be up for debate however. The 2012 survey saw no club captain successfully predict North Melbourne to make the finals, Jobe Watson to win the Brownlow or Sydney to win the premiership.
