After a disappointing end to last year’s season the boys are ready to lift their game and make a secured entrance back into the competition.

Enright reassured the Geelong Advertiser that the club have made the most of their break and have gone to all lengths to make sure they’re prepared for round 1, on April 1st against Hawthorn at the MCG.

"Obviously us finishing earlier (last year) gave us a chance to get into training earlier," Enright said.

"You don't want to look back too far, all we look forward to is the season proper now, we've trained hard and we've done the best that we can, so we've got no excuses heading into the season.

"We've prepared ourselves as best we can to hit the season running.

"If you're not ready by now (you never will be). All the clubs would be the same, we've been training a long time, everyone's fit and firing and it's just a matter of hitting Round 1 now and getting really excited about that."

This year senior coach, Chris Scott, was not going to have his team playing 'catch up' football.

Throughout the preseason the senior boys, as well as the younger boys, have continued to undertake their key roles on the track, to ensure that they’re in top form from round 1, instead of peaking half way through.

"We (senior players) have played more footy so we should be right to go by Round 1 now," Enright said.

"Everyone's had a taste of it and we've played a lot of guys, pretty much everyone on our list has had a go, so that's going to hold us in good stead."

Chris Scott is taking no chances and has spent the last few months carefully preparing the boys for nothing less than a solid start to the season.

"It's a pretty significant break, we've got 17 days until we play Round 1, but we've known about that since the draw came out and we've planned around it," Scott said.

"(Friday's game) was, in some ways, the end of our preparation for Round 1. We think we're in a pretty good place."
