As the Cats continue their impressive push towards finals, Cats coach Chris Scott has singled out the support of the club’s members in keeping them going.

Speaking following the Cats resounding win over Port Adelaide, Scott said the visible energy in the team was being generated due to the support of the club’s members especially those in Queensland who’ve been at the club’s games.

“There’s been an air of positivity around our whole club.” Scott said.

“And that’s been difficult to generate because we’re so far home and I know everyone’s in the same boat but even tonight, the support we’ve had here and at the GABBA.”

“This is really, outside of Victoria, this is clearly our largest supporter base in Australia and they’re really getting behind us and I think it’s great for our members too.

But Scott pointed to those back in Victoria who have stuck with the club during the season.

“I said it last week but it’s hard to believe that people could be so committed without getting any real sort of tangible value in terms of being able to come to games and our members have stuck with us and supported us.”

“I think our whole club’s feeling that.

“And we’ve got a bit of a pep in our step because sometimes you don’t realise how well you are supported until you’re really on your knees.”

“And there was a potential that our club, financially and otherwise, was going to be completely on its knees and we’re finding a way to keep our head above water and that’s in no small part due to people to those people who are giving of themselves to support us.”

The Cats recently passed 60,000 members in 2020 and a range of non-access memberships are available to directly support the club.
