Geelong has finalised player contracting ahead of the 2020 AFLW draft, with a further 24 players signed for the upcoming season.
This follows the re-signings of Meg McDonald and Nina Morrison earlier this week bringing the total to 26 players.
The Cats also have a strong draft hand, with four of the top 19 picks in Victoria.
Nine players have inked two year contracts, with Danielle Higgins, Amy McDonald, Julia Crockett-Grills, Nina Morrison, Meghan McDonald, Millie Brown, Rebecca Webster, Sophie Van De Heuvel and Maddy Keryk agreeing to contracts until the end of the 2022 season.
Olivia Purcell, Denby Taylor, Georgia Clarke, Rene Caris, Rebecca Goring and Jordan Ivey remain in contract, while Madisen Maguire, Kate Darby, Georgie Rankin, Renee Garing, Aasta O’Connor, Mia Skinner, Nicole Garner, Phoebe McWilliams, Maddy McMahon, Maddie Boyd and Rocky Cranston all have new one-year deals.
“It was important to give the players some certainty around their contacts, as we have done in past years,” Geelong’s AFLW operations and recruiting manager Ben Waller said.
“We also have a strong hand in the draft, with four of the opening 19 picks in Victoria.
“That’s an exciting prospect for us as there are some very talented players in the draft. We will look to the best talent with our picks.”
