Name: Bec Goring
Nickname: Noodles, Beccy G, Gorza
Favourite footy memory: Visiting Evelyn’s (Dhamarrandji) community in East Arnhem Land after we played in Darwin. Also captaining the first-ever AFLW match for Geelong
Greatest non-football achievement: Performing at the Sydney Opera House and the Forum in Melbourne.
Best advice you’ve been given (on or off the field): To create art that holds up a mirror to society, and to have fun!
Teammate you’d like to room with on away trips: Maddy Keryk, we travelled overseas and roadtripped many times together. Our shared appreciation for music and drinking cups of tea as an excuse to have multiple sweet biscuits is a lifelong friendship.
Teammate you’d least like to room with on away trips: Sleep is the best form of recovery and I think Kate Darby and her (yet-to-arrive) newborn wouldn’t be a great fit just yet.
Funniest teammate: Undoubtedly Denby Taylor, she’s very witty but quiet in her delivery, so you have to be listening carefully.
Funniest thing you’ve seen on the footy field: Pre-COVID clause: I once saw a snot rocket fly from one player’s nostril to another player’s cheek mid-tackle, gross but funny.
Position other than your own you wish you could play: CHF
Hidden talent/party trick: I can smell the difference between Colgate and Sensodyne toothpaste.
Player from another AFLW team you’d most like to have at the Cats: Gabriella Pound, a clever, hardworking and professional footballer from the Navy Blues, an asset to any team.
Favourite player from another sport: Annie-Rose Maloney (retired Australian cricketer).
If you weren’t playing footy, what sport would you like to play: Surfing
Favourite meal the night before a game: Vegetarian pumpkin pasta with local Meredith goat cheese, scattered with as many leftover pine nuts as you manage not to burn.
Favourite movie: August Rush
Favourite TV series: Grey’s Anatomy
Favourite book: Miles: The Autobiography
Favourite singer/band: Dan Sultan singer/songwriter
Dream holiday destination: Alaska
One thing you’d like people to know about you: I prefer to listen before I share.
