Chris Scott spoke to media on Tuesday ahead of Geelong's Round 2 clash against the Brisbane Lions at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.
Here are the key takeaways, presented by Morris Finance.
Scott on footy returning to GMHBA Stadium...
"We haven't played in front of a loud Geelong home crowd since August 2019 for premiership points. It feels like a long long time ago. Our people have been starved of footy and we are just looking forward to putting on a good show in front of a hostile but fair Geelong crowd."
Scott on Patrick Dangerfield...
"The part that I would like to outline really clearly is the understanding that we as coaches, the football club and playing group - the responsibility that we have to mitigate issues around concussion. So sometimes as we saw with Paddy, you can be left in a position where you have too many options but you still have a responsibility to do everything that you can to mitigate the issue," Geelong coach Chris Scott said.
"If we look at what he could have done, I think we would like to coach our players to tackle as opposed to bump wherever possible. Now the risk then when a player has the ball and disposers of it after he has made contact is that he might giveaway a free kick and possibly give away a 50 (metre penalty) as well but that is a much better situation I think for our game and even for us as a football club than having players concussed in the way that Jake Kelly was."
"I don't think anyone wants to see that in a game and I just like to make it really clear that while we have a dog in the fight and we clearly would like to see our player not penalised, I think the bigger issue there is that we have a responsibility not to try to fix these things if we possibly can, even when they are really difficult like what we saw on the weekend."
Scott on Cats in the mix this week...
"We don't have a like-for-like (for Dangerfield) and no one does. We will get some players back who were held back a little bit last week, so we would expect that Zach Tuohy would be ready now and Jack Henry would be ready. There are a few others options that we are weighing up there. I doubt Mitch Duncan would be ready and Sam Simpson isn't quite right either so there are a few in that uncertain mix, but I think Tuohy and Henry are the obvious ones that are ready to come back."
Scott on Menegola...
"He is sore there is no doubt about that but as we often see in these situations a player can be very sore and unable to complete the game but come up quickly enough to complete the game next week. According to our medical staff on the day it was clear cut that he shouldn't continue but not so clear cut that he wouldn't be available the next week, so I would put him in the 50/50 camp but that's a completely uneducated view."

Scott on Geelong's Round 1 performance...
"We didn't play anywhere near as we would like to. The opposition was very good and we need to find a way to improve quickly as it was quite a poor performance. We have looked at the game really closely and we are doing everything that we can to look forward and play more like the way we would like to this week."
Scott on Brisbane's forward line...
"They had a dangerous forward line and the summary would be that they have a more dangerous forward line. They are a little bit taller than what some people might have expected them to be but I suspect like every team is going through at the moment that when you want to play a second ruck, the end result tends to be that you are taller in your forward line as well. (Tom) Fullarton has played there and tends to be more of a target forward and backup ruckman... I have a high level of respect for Joe (Daniher). I think he is a fantastic player but (Eric) Hipwood and Charlie Cameron are pretty good players too, so no doubt they are more dangerous with Joe in there."
