Developing small defender Abbey McDonald showed exciting signs in her first AFLW appearances in 2023. Drafted ahead of Season 7, McDonald had to bide her time in development as she waited for a chance at the top level, but it was impossible to ignore the former Calder Cannon after an impressive first VFLW Season with the Cats in 2023. With good composure, skills and line-breaking ability, McDonald is an attacking defender, driving the Cats up the ground and into their forward 50, and will be looking for more time at senior level in 2024.
