The Geelong Football Club congratulates former club director Helene Bender on being elevated to a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of her service to the community.
Helene has served the Geelong community with distinction over many years. Helene was a key member of the club’s board from the end of 1998 until December 2007, a period that saw the club return to dominance both on and off the field.
During her tenure with the club, Helene served as Chair Geelong Cats Sports Foundation, founding Chair of Nine Lives-Geelong (Women's Group of the Geelong Football Club) and member of the Finance committee.
Helene’s outstanding contributions to the success of the club were recognised with life membership in 2008.
